SOCIAL JUSTICE ALL-STAR WEEKEND IN ANNAPOLIS, MD 7/22-7/24 2021

#SOCIALJUSTICEWEEKEND HOSTED BY NBA LEGEND STEPHEN JACKSON IN ANNAPOLIS, MARYLAND IS A SERIES OF EVENTS CREATED TO RAISE MONEY AND AWARENESS FOR THE VARIOUS FAMILIES WHOSE LIVES HAVE FOREVER BEEN IMPACTED BY POLICE BRUTALITY. THE MOST RECENT EVENT WAS IN HONOR AND REMEMBRANCE OF BREONNA TAYLOR, WHO WAS BRUTALLY GUNNED DOWN BY OFFICERS IN LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY ON MARCH 13TH, 2020. THE OFFICERS IN QUESTION OBTAINED AN ILLEGAL SEARCH WARRANT AND PROCEEDED TO MURDER HER AS SHE SLEPT. TO THIS DAY, NONE OF THOSE OFFICERS WERE CHARGED FOR THIS TRAGIC OCCURRENCE.

THIS CHARITY EVENT GATHERED CELEBS FROM THE SPORTS, FILM, TELEVISION AND MUSIC FIELDS TO HELP BRING AWARENESS TO SYSTEMIC RACISM AND THE SOCIAL INJUSTICES CARRIED OUT AGAINST BLACK AND BROWN PEOPLE ON A DAILY BASIS. THE WEEKEND WAS FILLED WITH EVERYTHING FROM FINANCIAL LITERACY PANELS TO COMMUNITY POP UP SHOPS, BOAT RIDES AND EVEN A CELEBRITY BASKETBALL GAME WHERE RAH DIGGA COACHED #TEAMPEACE AND FORMER NBA STAR LAMAR ODOM COACHED #TEAMJUSTICE. ALL PROCEEDS WILL BE DONATED TO THE BREONNA TAYLOR FOUNDATION.

THIS IS AN ANNUAL EVENT THAT TAKES PLACE ON THE FIRST SATURDAY IN JUNE AT GUN HILL PARK IN BRONX, NY. CITY OFFICIALS AND BRONX DELEGATES HAVE DESIGNATED THIS DAY TO HONOR THE PIONEERING HIP HOP LEGEND FROM THE FUNKY FOUR PLUS ONE, MC SHA ROCK. CHECK OUT THE GALLERY BELOW!

Rah Digga, female rapper extraordinaire, and playwright/producer Kenike Miché partner to make a firm stance against POLICE BRUTALITY - all on the backdrop of a fairytale. CINDY SOUL dares to confront perspectives on police killings and present a tribute to George Floyd during a virtual stage reading on June 28th at 7:00PM. Tickets - $15 (portion of the proceeds to EQUAL JUSTICE INITIATIVE from Just Mercy). Thousands will gather from their homes to view the virtual stage reading presented in the Hollywood Fringe Festival. As the world slowly opens from the global pandemic of the century, this new hit play will be presented as a virtual stage reading. Although there will be a happy ending, as is the case for most fairy tales, it will deal with nitty gritty issues confronting everyday people...issues such as child abuse, bullying, suicide, depression, domestic violence and what is most paramount today - police brutality. Deemed the most radical version of Cinderella, a Social Justice version of Cinderella, Cindy Soul's debut is one that you don't want to miss! Cindy Soul, written by Kenike Miché is the Cinderella story as never told before!
